Learning Ladders Fetes MD Students For Two-Week Work At Pusat Ehsan
Bandar Seri Begawan - For their participation in Pusat Ehsan's 'REALITY' attachment programme, which was held at the centre, the Learning Ladders Society (LLS), presented certificates to all A level students from Maktab Duli for work committed over the last two weeks. The students learnt about autism as well as how an applied behaviour analysis (ABA) counsellor works with autistic children.
The students were also able to see first-hand how the training via video-conference link operates with Dr Douglas Lee from Canada. The students also assisted staff at the centre in the preparation of special educational materials.
"The attachment programme has helped me understand autism better," said Awang Halimen bin Takong, one of six students, who learnt that an ABA counsellor requires proper training as the counsellor needs to possess a lot of relevant knowledge in order to deliver the intervention well.
LLS President, Dr Sharina binti Haji Yunus, welcomed the REALITY attachment programme and said that it is a very positive programme initiated by Maktab Duli and the government, and hopes that there will be many more such programmes implemented in the future.
The programme is in line with the Ministry of Education's aspirations, which aims to meet the social and economic challenges posed by the 21st century, by encouraging students to gain the necessary skills required to prosper in this modern day and age.
