Study in Australia Roadshow
Saturday, May 22, 2010
Saturday, 22May 2010 – At 2pm, around 25 students from both AE and BE attended the roadshow that was facilitated by the Higher Education Unit (HEU) held in the Conference Room. The Roadshow was presented by Safwanah Noor from HRD Services Global Education Link, which are the official representatives for a number of Australian’s universities and colleges.
In Australian universities or colleges, there are 2 semesters.
"In each semester, you are allowed to take a minimum of 3 subjects while the maximum are 5 subjects, ” explained Safwanah Noor, the main presenter of this roadshow. She also highlighted that at the end of a semester, there will be exams. Hence, in the next upcoming semester we could take new subjects which are completely different from our previous courses. This will sum up to a maximum of 10 subjects in 2 semesters.
It was also interesting to note that Australia is now a viable option for students who want to take competitive courses in health sciences since UK no longer accept international applicants.
Dr. Smita, the general manager of HRD highlighted that if we are going to study overseas, we will obtain a slightly different type of education that will help us when applying jobs. The competitions for the job decreases since we have more advantage, especially if the position are quite popular.
“Though it is not easy to get a scholarship or to be accepted by universities since the requirement is quite high but it is not impossible to be obtained,” she highlighted again. As Dr. Smita said, “Once you graduate, you will be proud of your education.”
