Information Technology and Publication
(IT-P) Committee
The Information technology and publication Prefects was first introduced to the MP's and Prefects system in March 2008. The first batch of IT-P prefects 2008/2009 consisted of 12 members. 6 Boys & 6 Girls whom each and every one have the knowledge and experience in Computing, Media and Publication.The IT-P prefects of 09/10, the second batch, consisted of 6 members, 3 Boys & 3 Girls and he third batch of IT-P prefects of 10/11 consisted of 7 members, 3 boys & 4 girls.
The New IT-P prefects of 2011/2012 consist of 7 members.5 boys and 2 girls. This year, in collaboration with IT-P prefects,The
Student Affairs have introduced the branch of Prefect of Photography to the system.
Our main duties or responsibilities are as follows:
• Prepare Backdrops and Powerpoint slides for every school event and control the slides.
• Producing Slideshow Videos
• In charge of the Over-head Projectors and Screen in the Auditorium
• Create a website for the prefects. (MD E-board)
• Create a newsletter / bulletin.( E-News)
• To take Pictures on every Event. (Photography)
• Help other commitees in any other event that involves computers and Audio system.
• Observe and advice those students who are breaking the rules in the ICT labs.
• Check the equipments that are in the ICT lab. E.g. OHP, Mac books, Desktop PC.
• AOB.

Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah emerged as champion in the Asean Quiz 2009 National Level Competition (Brunei Darussalam) yesterday while Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan came in second place. The competition was held at the Dewan Raya Radio Television Brunei (RTB).
The guest of honour was Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Awang Haji Mansor, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office.
In his opening remarks, Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Director of Information Department and Chairman of Sub-Committee on Information, Asean-COCI Brunei Darussalam, said, "The Asean Quiz has proven to be an effective vehicle to promote Asean countries based on the extensive participation of the students from the previous Regional Asean Quiz competition held in Thailand in 2002, Brunei Darussalam in 2004 and Malaysia in 2006."
The Fourth Regional Asean Quiz competition will be hosted by the Philippines, which will be held from September 30 to December 4.
The Asean Quiz competition national level was opened for participation to pre-university students aged 18 years below.
Seven Sixth Form colleges registered to take part in the competition, whereas the first preliminary round of the competition was conducted on August 3 followed by the second preliminary round on August 10.
Out of the seven Sixth Form colleges, only two managed to enter the finals yesterday.
From this final round, the three best students will be selected to represent Brunei Darussalam at the Regional Asean Quiz competition, which will be held in Philippines.
The aims and objectives of the competition are to elicit the spirit of healthy competition among the Asean youth in the secondary school level in a friendly quiz game. This competition will not only expose Asean's cultural, political, economic and social information but also create awareness among them and the general public on Asean and its member states.
It will also help engage the media in providing coverage and publicity to the event and encourage linkages and the participation of the private sector in the event.
Awang Saifulbahri bin Haji Awang Haji Mansor presented the prizes to the winners.
The competition was organised by the Information Department at the Prime Minister's Office with the cooperation from the Co-curriculum Department at the Ministry of Education.
It is one of the projects under the Sub-Committee on Information Asean-COCI Brunei Darussalam.
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Rabu - Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah hari ini mengadakan majlis solat sunat hajat Berjemaah dan membaca Surah Yasin bagi pelajarnya yang akan menduduki Peperiksaan GCE Peringkat Lanjutan ('A' Level) tahun ini.
Mengimamkan solat sunat hajat dan memimpin bacaan Surah Yasin di majlis yang diadakan di Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah itu ialah Pehin Khatib Haji Suhaili Haji Metali Al-Hafiz.
Selain pelajar Tingkatan Enam Atas, ahli jawatankuasa Persatuan Ibu-Bapa Guru (PIBG), ibu bapa pelajar serta warga kerja maktab turut hadir di majlis itu termasuk Pemangku Pengetua, Hajah Seroja Siau.

Sehubungan dengan inin dipohonkan perhatian dan kerjasama bagi perkara berikut :-
Pendaftaran pagi bagi pelajar-pelajar adalah seperti biasa (7.30 - 7.45 pagi)
Majlis tersebut dikhususkan bagi semua pelajar-pelajar Enam Atas yang berugama Islam. Manakala, pelajar-pelajar yang tidak terlibat akan menghadiri kuliah seperti biasa.
Semua pelajar yang berkenaan diarahkan untuk menuju Dewan Makan pada pukul 7.45 pagi bagi mengambil air mineral dan seterusnya menaiki bas menuju ke Jame' Asr hassanil Bolkiah.
Para ibubapa dialu-alukan untuk hadir ke Majlis tersebut dan bolehlah terus menuju ke Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah pada waktu yang dinyatakan di atas.
Pensyarah dan pelajar perempuan yang uzur (uzur syarie') tidak dimestikan hadir ke majlis tersebut.
Semua pelajar lelaki diarahkan untuk memakai songkok sementara semua pelajar dan pensyarah perempuan hendaklah membawa telekung masing-masing bagi tujuan majlis tersebut.
Pada waktu balik ke Maktab Duli dari Jame' Asr, semua pelajar yang menghadiri majlis tersebut diarahkan untuk menuju ke Dewan Makan bagi mengambil yang telah disediakan.
Kepada ibubaoa yang ingin memberi sumbangan dalam bentuk wang, bolehlah berjumpa dengan Cikgu Hajah Amal Nuriyah bte Hj Ahmad Kumpoh, Setiausaha PIBG tidak lewat dari hari Rabu, 12 Ogos 2009.
Pihak maktab mengharap kerjasama dan sokongan dari semua pihak baggi menghadiri majlis tersebut demi kejayaan dan kesejahteraan pelajar-pelajar. The college administrators through the Student Affairs Section would like to stress out the proper procedures for students to go out of the college (Reference: Pg 7 & 43, Disiplinary Guide for Education Institutes & Hostels, Ministry of Education, 2007)
The college administrators would like to remind all parents/guardians that the morning session for the college is between 7.30 am to 12.05 noon. With that in mind, students are not allowed to leave the college premises prior to 12.05 noon. Students with Private Study during the11.05 period are encouraged to have a group study or discussion with their lecturers.
However, if the students wants to leave the premises prior to 12.05 noon, they are required for permission to leave the college premises from the Student Affairs Section.

This is to inform you that the Environment Friendly Club are taking several steps to support the efforts of Negara Brunei Darussalam in keeping our environment clean and green.
In order to commemorate the 'ASEAN GREEN DAY' which will fall on Saturday, 8th August 2009, this club will launch several projects that require the attention, actions as well as support of every member of Maktab Duli; students, teaching and non-teaching staffs, cleaners, canteen operator and workers as well as parents. The projects in mind are:-
All concerned are to refrain themselves from bringing, buying, selling, giving or consuming drinks which are bottled in disposable non-biodegradable plastic on every Saturday, starting 08.08.2009.
All concerned are to refrain themselves from bringing, buying, selling, giving or consuming food packed in non-biodegradable plastic or styrofoam on Saturdays, with effect from 08.08.2009.
All concerned are to separate their aluminum tins from other garbage by putting the tins in the boxes provided along the corridor and at the several places in Maktab Duli. These will be emptied twice or trice weekly. Cans are to be sold and cash is to be used for environment care activities to be carried out by Club members, with effect from 08.08.2009.
The projects (project 1 and 2) are to be observed weekly by the Environment Friendly Club until the end of this year and are intended to be increased to three times a week or even daily from next year onwards. We look forward to everyone cooperation. 'TOGETHER WE STAND IN CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT'.

ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE WORLD TELECOMMUNICATIONS & INFORMATION SOCIETY DAY 2009
The authority for Info-communications Technology industry of Brunei Darussalam (AiTi) is organizing an essay writing competition in conjunction with the World Telecommunications & Information Society Day 2009, centering on the theme of 'Protecting Children in Cyberspace'
The competition aims to raise awareness of the benefits of cyber safety and security amongst the student population in Brunei Darussalam. The students of Maktab Duli fall into the category below:
Category: Upper Secondary
All qualified participants will receive a Certificate of Participation and Participants in 4th to 10th places will receive consolation prizes. The top three essays will be published in the local newspapers and other electronic media.
Please read the Terms and Condition attached carefully. Please submit your entries to your respective subject tutors by Saturday, August 15th 2009. For more information, you can check out www.aiti.gov.bn. Winners will be announced on September 29th 2009.

All registered students that are attending in either private or public schools in Brunei Darussalam are eligible to participate and they must be within the age limit as of 1st July 2009.
Each participant is limited to only one entry
Participants must submit an original essay on the topics and the required length indicated for their age category.
All entries must be accompanied by a completed form which can be obtained from AITI or downloaded from the AITI website at: www.aiti.gov.bn
Entries must be submitted at AITI either in person or email to info@aiti.gov.bn latest by 3.00pm on 31st August 2009.
All entries must be written in English and submitted (either printed or in printable form) in typed, double-spaced, on white A4 paper. Font used must be Times New Roman size 12.
Entries will be evaluated based on, inter alia, writing quality and clarity, content, grammar and style.
Any plagiarism will be considered void.
AITI reserves the right the reject entries at its discretion. Appeals will not be entertained.
Entries will be evaluated and prizes awarded at the sole discretion of AITI.
All entries become the property of AITI with the right to republish the original essay.
AITI employees and their immediate family members (siblings, dependents, spouse) are not eligible to participate.
