Brunei 25th National Days

Monday, 23rd February 2009.An early start for Bruneian's today, especially those involved with the performance held at the Stadium Hassanal Bolkiah. Twas a beautiful sunny day. From the young & old, or young at heart, all was very excited to watch the performance. Everywhere you see people, holding up their flags with a smile on thier face despite the enduring hot sun & congestion along the way.
The flag waving went well. No problems at all, the authoroties made sure of that. Food was provided for both breakfast & lunch. We were also given free hats, green with the Naional day logo on it. The march pass was pretty well organized as well.
Inside, the stadium was amazingly decorated, balloons everywhere, colourful it was, so was the performance, absolutely well choreographed & the music, both heart pumping & dramatic. The National Anthem felt overwhelming, as everyone stood silently listening to the choir harmoniously singing their hearts out.
Excellent job to everyone who have worked hard to make this day the BEST NATIONAL DAY EVER. Like the theme for this year's national day, "Kedewasaan Bernegara", it has been 25 years since the independence & Brunei has certainly made progress in this coming of age. May the next 25 years of our country able to develop even more better & more AMAZING national day performances. Eheh :P

UBD Roadshow
Saturday, 21st February 2009.University of Brunei Darussalam is having a roadshow on 'Generation Next Degrees' in the Auditorium on 21st February at 2 pm.
The representatives from UBD giving briefing on the undergraduate courses which were offered by the university,
which includes Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor Of Health Science and Bachelor Of Bussiness.
They also explained and told the MD students about the qualification that is needed to study in UBD and the qualification to take the course.
Before the briefing starts, a representative from the MD Higher Education Unit (HEU), gave a short briefing about education system, the types of higher education institution n the qualification.

Marching Practise
Tuesday, 24th February 2009.Maktab Duli team had their marching rehearsal for the 25
th national day which consists of about 30 teachers and more than 100 maktab duli hostellites. The first few rehearsal was at the Maktab Duli track which were led by two officers from the fire department. At first the rehearsal was only participated
by the hostellites.
The official rehearsal was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah national stadium. The teachers and students left the college early in the morning around 7.45am. Upon arriving, the representatives of Maktab Duli were asked to gather at a point where they were given orders to assemble themselves. Maktab Duli was the 44th contingent of the march pass, which in between MKJB and SMHALB schools. The first official was not very successful so the teacher-in-charge asked the whole team to do another rehearsal at the Maktab Duli track.
Second day was more the less the same as the first day. Better arrangement and coordination of the lines and rows was shown by the Maktab Duli representatives. They were asked to get into the field with the rest of the participants to read the oath that was led Dr Mohd Munir Faridz bin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Metassan, the medical officer of Internal Medical Department, RIPAS Hospital.
The students and teachers received orders from the principal to wear the formal school uniforms for the rehearsal on the third day. They arrived at the gathering point around 8am and had to wait for almost an hour until all teams from 4 different districts to arrive that consist of primary and secondary schools, higher institutions, government department as well as private sectors. The heat was unbearable as the day with few clouds on sight and ofcourse there are several complaints from both teachers and students especially the girls, in contrast of the male students which ofcourse have high endurance level, just a few of them tried to hid themselves under a tree. Around 9.30am all the teams started to move according to their number orders set by the authorities. Maktab Duli marched from the gathering point to the stadium with high spirits proudly wearing the college full uniforms.
Last day of rehearsal took place on the 21st February 2009. The team finally had the fixed formation. During the last day of rehearsal, they were asked to march without the assistance from the officers in charge and surprisingly Maktab Duli gave the best performance compared with the other marching rehearsal before. After reading the oath, the team had a chance to watch the full rehearsal of the field performance. At the end of the day they gathered in the dining hall of the college and the participants were given a brief explaination of the actual day and lastly they received compliments from teachers on behalf of the principal and officers incharge.
